Treatment begins with Inkless Scar Revision, with the initial focus on improving the appearance and texture of the scar. Where appropriate, Scar Camouflage / Skin Tone Blending may be considered at a later stage to help blend remaining colour differences with the surrounding skin. For stretch marks, treatment is carried out using the inkless approach only.

Suitability can only be determined following an individual assessment.

When Treatment May Be Delayed

There are circumstances where treatment may need to be postponed.

Scar treatment is generally not considered while a surgical scar is still actively healing.

Recently formed scars may continue to change naturally in colour, texture and appearance, and sufficient healing time should be allowed before additional treatment is introduced.

Treatment may therefore be delayed where:

• The scar is still relatively new • The scar remains red or actively inflamed • The tissue has not fully healed • The area remains particularly sensitive • Further natural scar maturation is expected • The skin requires additional recovery time • Additional assessment is considered necessary

Where appropriate, clients may be advised to allow the scar additional time to mature before returning for reassessment.

Allowing sufficient natural healing time can be an important part of achieving the most appropriate long-term treatment pathway.

If treatment is delayed, guidance will be provided regarding the recommended next step and an appropriate timeframe for reassessment where possible.

A test patch is required for all clients before treatment can proceed.

The purpose of the test patch is to assess the individual skin response and provide further information before treatment is carried out over a larger surgical scar area.

Every person's skin and scar tissue can respond differently.

For this reason, the test patch forms an important part of the assessment process and supports a cautious approach to treatment planning.

The test patch may also help inform technique, treatment intensity and the most appropriate next stage for your scar.

It is carried out separately from the full treatment appointment.

A full treatment appointment cannot be booked until the required consultation and test patch assessment have been completed successfully.
